I have absolutely lost my mind over on TikTok, which means we are getting a few more recipes than normal this week! And don’t worry, I’ve lost my mind in a good way. I’m exploring videos that focus less on the effort behind them and more on the products they make, and I’m diving into formats that make me feel connected to you all, rather than just cooking solo. And as of right now, I have never felt more content as a creator. You could say I’m a *content* creator, and the pun would still be terrible.
But maybe it’s the fact that we are so close to spring being here, or maybe it’s that this season of Love is Blind is GIVING, or maybe it’s that we decided the cover of my book this week (screams internally in excitement), but the energy just feels right, which is why I decided to take my Sunday lunch to TikTok this week, and the floodgates of new formats opened.
So we have a big week! With some recipes that are big, some that are simple, and some that are basically salmon in a sandwich. But trust me, that salmon sandwich is goooood.
Also…newsletter tea…word on the street is that Emily Mariko brought her newsletter back. Does anyone subscribe? She inspired this newsletter, so I’m incredibly happy she’s back in the Substack world.
But now, the weekly round-up!
A Very Easy, Slightly Messy, Salmon & Edamame Sandwich - One of the simpler recipes this week. Just roast some salmon, blitz up a quick edamame spread, and you’re done. It’s like an extension of salmon avocado toast, but packed with protein.
Charred Daikon Radish Soup - Deeply rich and aromatic, this soup was my challenge to play with all the winter radishes we have. They are fantastic crisp and raw, but when they are charred and simmered in a soup, the texture turns somehow starchy and potato-ey? I can’t get enough.
Brown Butter Tahini Cabbage with Sumac & Mint - PLEASE. GOOD GOD. MAKE THIS. Put it on bread! Put it with salmon! Put it on rice! Chop it up and stir it in with orzo! I am basically a cabbage tribute band at this point.
Preserved Lemon & Raspberry Swirled Whipped Cream - Spring is so close, and brighter, lighter desserts come with it. I’m a firm believer a nearly-frozen whipped cream is better than panna cotta any day (I said what I said) and just as easy to prep. This new flavor combination inspired by Loacker is one of my favorites.
And a Silly Little Morning Drink - psssst, no photo for this one, but I’m verifiably hooked. It’s 1 tablespoon ginger juice (I love this California-based brand!), 1-2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, and 32 ounces of soda water. Just….trust me. It has made my mornings infinitely better.
And that’s it for this week! A bigger week than normal, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. I’m off to prep for next week, and excited to see what a February 24th farmers’ market drops off. I’m predicting…….more root vegetables in our future.
Until next week!
