I am not hungover. I am slightly feeling the repercussions from last night. But I am not hungover.
I remember vividly a day where I posted myself at Trader Joe’s at 8am on a Sunday saying I was hungover on my Instagram stories. Someone reported my story and I had to click through Instagram’s self-help resources for 4 minutes before I could post about Trader Joe’s frozen shrimp section. So please don’t report this newsletter, I beg of you.
Either way, you don’t come to this newsletter for my plight. You come to hear about my Sexy Ina Garten halloween costume! Just kidding, it was a very respectable costume with me holding her new book. Because I respect. the. queen.
But now what you really come for - this week’s recipes! For the next few weeks the colors will be accidentally rotating around orange and beige, but beige food is what fall is for, no?
The weekly round-up!
Matcha halva for a last-minute, bright green halloween candy. Video here, recipe here.
A charred fennel soup that is deeply tomato-ey and deeply delicious. Video here, recipe here.
Brussel sprout salad with anchovy tahini & za’atar chickpea crumbs (try it just for the chickpea crumbles, they are delicious). Video here, recipe here.
Chili spiced popcorn & maple glazed walnuts - the sweet and spicy you didn’t know you needed until now, I promise. Video here, recipe here.
A negroni spagliatto - mocktail style! Video here, recipe on Stanley’s website!
And the finale - a use-the-whole-pumpkin tart with pumpkin seed gremolata! Video here, recipe here.
And that’s it until next time! Eric and I are taking the full day to go on a little Upper West Side adventure (aka Levain bakery 74th St. location and Jacob’s Pickles….then maybe the park? TBD) so we’re off to do that! In the meantime, stay safe this weekend and have an amazing time making everything pumpkin for me please <3
See you next week, XOXO,
Snacks
I truly hope you include a trip to Zabars during your UWS adventure :))
