I, once again, am writing this when I need to leave for the airport in two hours. BUT IN MY DEFENSE. I DID NOT KNOW I NEEDED TO LEAVE IN TWO HOURS. I have become increasingly more lax in my airport arrival time compared to my partner (TSA pre-check privilege will do that to you), but it does make me worry about our future marriage. Aligning on airport arrival time is the biggest test of compatibility. But people change, people grow, and what if I have changed???
Existential air travel crisis aside, we are leaving for the most wonderful time of the year. The holidays! And every recipe this year has a solid holiday skew. We have a jumbo lump crab recipe that you can slot into any Feast of the Seven Fishes, a healthy leek and mushroom soup meant to carry all the flavors of stuffing, an orange chai hot chocolate, and an orange chocolate CAKE. As you can see, I am in an orange phase. I’m also in a being late to the airport phase.
So please enjoy these recipes! While I will enjoy….packing.
The weekly round-up!
Leek & Mushroom Stuffing Soup - I miss having this soup in my house. It was the epitome of comforting, and I swear the leftovers got better every day.
Orange Chai Hot Chocolate - for when bone broth hot chocolate simply will not do.
Jumbo Lump Crab with “Black and Blue” Sauce - I will not shove this down your throats again (I have been yapping about it non stop), but I will say Eric ate all four servings in two days. A high honor!
Orange Rosemary Chocolate Cake - I pray, please do not sleep on rosemary citrus sugar, she is here to change your life + your Christmas dessert table. Truly.
It now appears I am late for my flight, but I will see you on the holly-jolly very-merry ho ho ho other side of next week! Where I will be rounding up my favorite recipe of every month for the year of 2024. I’m excited.
Happy holidays everyone!

Not that there is anything wrong with a brownie! Just received the two signed copies of your book yesterday -- the package had gone astray and I am so thrilled it made its way to me -- relieved gift giver here! Spent some time looking through and I am so excited to give them (along with bags of Rancho Gordo beans, for theme-yness). Looks like a great read and the book is beautiful. Congratulations and Happy New Year.
I made this cake for our Christmas Eve dinner desserts and it was a winner! Love, looove the rosemary bit. (I might have also eaten way too much sugar and butter while making this but no one saw so as long as there’s no proof that’s okay, right?)
