Good morning! If you are reading this in real time, I’m currently falling down a mountain on purpose. I haven’t been skiing since I was twelve, so if I come back with knee problems - we shouldn’t be surprised. BUT it’s worth it because I’m at a close friend’s bachelorette weekend! And everyone knows these weekends are where women brave all injuries for the ones they love.

Now, since I am up in the middle of Vermont, it’s a bit of a shorter letter today, with an early recipe because I love giving you guys things early. This week I had the BEST intentions of doing three dinners, but time (and perfectionism) got in the way. Plus, some simple dinners (like this chickpeas/leeks/mushrooms and lemon situation I filmed twice and ultimately passed on) just don’t feel ready to be on the blog. But I still have that red wine braised cabbage I talked about on TikTok in the back of my head….so TBD.

But now, the weekly round-up!

Brown Butter Rutabaga Orzo - A dinner so good I made it twice, and if you don’t have rutabaga around, squash or sweet potatoes work great here, too.

Sizzled Jalapeño Dipping Oil - this dip is lemony, bright, and made for my girls who can eat pickled peppers out of the jar and die happy. I technically made it so that you can bring bread to your Super Bowl night without shame, but it’s good at any party. Spoon it in the center of a pile of ricotta or labneh for a richer dip, and serve with some parmesan-crusted focaccia. It’s not weird to put it next to the wings.

And a little early peek! Sweet Potato Cake with Smoked Paprika Caramel - Nobody panic, you can always cut the paprika if your tastebuds don’t see the vision. But if they do see the vision, you’ll understand how crazy-good a smoky caramel can be, and I hope you’ll love it like I do.

And that’s it for this week! Now I’m off to après ski - which I just found out means “after skiing,” yet, we are still going to après ski before skiing. So now you see why I’m prepping for injury.
