I’m coming out of my post-engagement bliss cocoon to talk about beans. I have been making, eating, and developing an inconceivable amount of bean recipes lately. An almost a schtick-level amount of beans recipes? I think it all started with Bush’s finally sponsoring me, then this cabbage bowl, and then just affirming that you b*tches really. love. beans.
And I never thought I would reach the threshold of bean-fatigue but, my loves, I think I’m almost there. My heart breaks for you, my heart breaks for cannellini beans. But if I see another lentil I may cry. This is just a recipe developer “thing” I’ve noticed, we get tired of certain things, and in turn the recipes feel tired too. Yet that does not (does not!) negate the fact that all my bean recipes are guaranteed 110% delicious, it just means the one this week might be the last bean for a bit. It’s not over, we’re just on a break.
(…but also, like all toxic girlfriends, I’ll probably be back in two weeks, WHO KNOWS)
And now, the (small) weekly round-up!
Preserved Lemon Zhoug Beans with Labneh - The last of the beans, and a collab with BenGingi!
SMÖL TREATOS - this is my classic recipe here, but the video has some protein powder added to the mix!
But outside of food - a little post-engagement, post-vacation recap!
After last week’s little audio-letter, which I definitely want to do more of, I heard from a lot of you that part of why you like the newsletter is that you can learn more about me! Which is 1) so nice, because I always wonder "do people even care?” when I write/ramble and 2) unexpected, because I view myself as a utility creator (I provide a service) compared to a lifestyle creator (who provide their personal life as content).
Either way, here’s what went down after last week’s newsletter. Eric and I jet-set on a little post-engagement trip to Harry Potter World/Disney World. I KNOW, OK. LEAVE ME. I’m only telling the newsletter in the strictest confidence. We actually shared our engagement post from the line of Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure - the wifi almost didn’t work, it was drama.
I kept this a big secret because I didn’t want to have to explain my origin story of being raised by Disney adults, which is why I have a soft spot for the genre. Eric has never been and I hadn’t been in over ten years. So this was my Eras tour, I guess.
But the funny thing about any vacation (normal, or themed) is that it hits a reset button, reminding me how taking time to rest actually does activate creativity, productivity, happiness etc. This is not a new phenomenon, but it makes me wonder how to implement more rest into our daily lives, not just on designated vacations. Kind of like the “sharpening your knives” story I mentioned last week. If you have any tips/tricks/moments of peace that you love implementing into your daily life, let me know. Or if you just want to comment about my parents being Disney people, that’s ok, too.
Trusting you with this info, and looking forward to seeing you next week!
Xoxo,

There is no such thing of breaking with beans. They are pretty much family. You can fight with them and get sick of them, but you’ll always be connected.
I’m looking forward to seeing what your next obsession is. I, too, tend to take on obsessions with food...summer of beer, summer of steak...90 day vegetarian...months of bread and a winter of ramen 🍜
Some obsessions are right and good and feed your soul as well as your belly.
Laughed out loud at “origin story”
