Hello and happy Not-Realizing-It’s-Super-Bowl-Weekend to all of us who celebrate! We go over this every year, but the Super Bowl™ is trademarked, so content creators/brands aren’t allowed to say its name in promotional materials. But I am protected by an LLC, I have no fear, and I’m not promoting anything. So SUPER! BOWL!….™
(If the NFL sues me, this newsletter will be the first to go)
Despite my spicy breaking of the rules, the Big Game (not trademarked) goes pretty unrecognized by this food newsletter. If I want a snack, I will be diving into Doritos™, the guacamole, or vegetarian pigs in a blanket, all of which are the peak culinary excellence of game day food. I am not here to reinvent the wheel. (However if you were interested in reinventing the wheel, the Parmesan-Crusted Beans in Justine Cooks are sure to give your queso a run for its money. And they go well with guac…just saying.)
But I’m not here to talk about sports, I’m here to talk about love. This week was a week for lovers on the blog, with a few snack-y Valentine’s Day recipes that are just for two or can be prepped for a Galentine’s Day or bigger Valentine’s dinner (but what would we call that other than a galentine’s? I truly have no idea).
So with that, the weekly round up!
Winter Niçoise Salad - maybe not for Valentine’s Day, but definitely pre-Valentine’s Day. Or just a day. It’s fresh, bright, and not-too-boring thanks to an Herbs de Provence dressing. I love it for any winter chicories hanging around.
Miso Black Pepper Oysters Rockefeller - made in an escargot dish! I love aphrodisiacs that are also contradictions.
The Perfect Pear [Pears in Frangipane with Toasted Lemon Thyme Sugar] - okay, this is my love child of the week. It’s so easy. Painfully easy. If you haven’t made frangipane before, it’s a French almond cream that is just beaten butter and sugar, salt, egg and almond flour. I add a touch of all-purpose flour to mine to make it lighter, and then also threw in some lemon zest. The whole thing is topped with half a pear and some toasted lemon thyme sugar (YOU KNOW I LOVE A SUGAR).
Please make that for a date night, I beg of you.
Phew! A short week this week, but a fun one. I hope a few of these might make it into your kitchen for this week of love. Also if you have a sports team you’re rooting for, I’m rooting for you!
See you next week my loves <3
Xoxo,

OMG, the not realizing it’s Super Bowl weekend is so real
Recipe issue: you specify 5 oz ramekins, but that isn't large enough for this recipe. One needs to use a dish with at least an 8 oz capacity to avoid overflow.
