Hello and happy 2023! I’m back after a month-long newsletter hiatus (hi, I missed you) and I am doing everything in my power not to fall into a New-Year-New-Me-News-Letter hole. I don’t know if you’ve heard the term, but there’s such a thing called “perfectionist fantasy", where in order to get a dopamine hit of success, people will plan out all the ways they are going to be “perfect” in the future. It gives you all the surge feelings of accomplishment, without having to wait the time it takes to complete the entire process. It’s like a get-rich-quick scheme for brain chemicals and I used to love it. Who am I kidding, a part of me still loves it??
But after years of trial and error, I’ve realized my best New-Year-New-Me route is to choose one highly attainable goal that I have complete control over, and then look at everything else with a macro lens. So this year it’s all about the process over progress, connecting with the people I know on the internet (that’s you!) and staying really excited about my work. So to start off 2023, I want to say thank you for letting me do a job that gets me passionate, excited and creative every day. It means more than you know.
Oh and my highly attainable goal? Post one in-feed photo a month on Instagram. LOL. HELP.
