The COOKBOOK IS HERE!
And it is ready for pre-order, because the newsletter always eats FIRST
I am shaking - SHAKING. But it’s finally here! The cookbook that was the worst secret I ever kept, because let’s be honest: I did not keep it.
But now it’s HERE, and I can tell you the TITLE, and I can tell you ABOUT IT. And you can order it!!
So ladies and everyone, I present: JUSTINE COOKS
And to get all sappy, I pitched this book in 2022 with the title “Home Made.” I wanted it to be a book about becoming a self-taught cook, a “home-made” cook, if you will. But as I worked on the book throughout 2023 - building it and finessing it and generally chipping away at it - it grew into something much bigger. It went from a book about my cooking journey, to a book that was truly inspired by and meant for you.
This book is true to my style of recipes, with 92 new ones, and 18 returning favorites. If you’ve ever vibed with a recipe I’ve put in this newsletter, that same style of cooking (plant-forward, but with lots of desserts baked in!) flows through this book. I wrote this book so you can reference old favorites (you’ll never have to search for how to make Crispy Quinoa ever again), and also introduce you to new things I love (Rosemary ‘Shrooms, I’m looking at you!)
But mostly, I wrote this book so you could make it your own.
Each recipe in this book is designed to make you say “I can’t wait to make this,” but then later, “I wonder how I can tweak this,” and then later be so simple that you can pull it from memory and apply it to anything your kitchen (or the seasons, or the farmers’ market) gives you.
A good cookbook is meant to be a living, changing document. If you do me the honor of buying this one, I hope the recipes in it will grow and change as you need them to. I hope the recipes won’t let you down (I don’t think they will!). And I hope you know that once you cook a recipe from this book, it becomes yours. Yours to change, yours to take, and yours to build upon.
Thank you for giving me this platform to write this book. Thank you for supporting my work. I hope this book is everything you want it to be, and I hope it brings joy, invention, and excitement to your kitchen!
Now I know this newsletter is called SNACKS, but with JUSTINE COOKS, I appreciate your support as we transition to ~the full meal~
NOW TELL YOUR MOTHER AND YOUR GREAT AUNT AND YOUR HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER FATHER FIGURE THAT THE TIME TO PRE-ORDER IS NOW!
I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH.
Xoxo,
Justine_Cooks
Let's talk book tour! Please please please come to Seattle, and when you do, please do a thing at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park. Everyone has been here--Deb Perelman, Ree Drummond (not my vibe but she packed the place), Aran Goyoaga, Kenji Lopez-Alt (well, he lives here, but still). Book Larder will want you, too, but they're tiny so far fewer fans will be able to fit in their space, so make it a two venue visit, I promise you (and your publisher) you won't regret it!
So excited! I did a Kindle order, because I'm in the less physical stuff era of my life- so thank you! You're one of the few people on Instagram that I follow and know if I make it, it will be awesome. Thanks for sharing everything and I'm excited to have the book.
