Does anyone else have the problem of too many ideas in their beautiful little brain and not enough time to execute them? ….
I feel seen.
This week I am deeply happy with all my recipes, but I am deeply missing my voiceovers. Love them or hate them, I just find that there’s always so much to say but not enough time to say it. On my mind this week is:
Wealth and how it pre-establishes people in the influencer economy (this came to me after I got a few too many questions asking why I cook on an Ikea burner. I LOVE MY BURNER.)
Talking about our “callings” after listening to this wonderful podcast episode by Liz Moody.
How just like owners look like their dogs, I think recipe creators tend to look like their food. (do I look like a sandwich).
Oh, and this podcast where Pete Wells talks about his 100 Best NYC Restaurants list. I’ve written before about restaurants as status symbols, but that still doesn’t stop me from wanting to go to this whole list in under 3 weeks. PS has anyone been to Tatiana?
But with all these ideas, I’ve had a hard time finding the recipes to film and narrate to them. Plus, the “Snacks That Should Be Meals” series is just giving me a new life, so videos have been more food-focused than talk-focused lately. But the beauty of what I do is I can always change things up - so who knows, you might hear one of these topics in the next few days.
The real question is, which one would you want to talk about first? Because when I talk about something, I always want it to feel like a two-way conversation, you know?
But now, the weekly round-up!
Garlic Bread Beans - only 100 cloves of garlic, only 2 cans of beans, only 4 servings! My lawyer is on call in case this accidentally hurts someone, so caveating to eat at your own risk. But, wow, is it worth it.
Charred Broccoli Rabe Sandwich with Balsamic Onions, Roasted Red Pepper Sauce and Smokey Mozz - a long name for a surprisingly easy to prep sandwich. Plus since Broccolini (TM) is trademarked, I’m a broccoli rabe girl now.
The Best of: Brown Butter Banana Bread - I have realized how I don’t have simple standard recipes on my blog, and to be honest - I would like to! This might be boring, but it’s the best banana bread recipe I’ve ever made.
And that’s it for this week! I need to go record the voiceover for the banana bread now, although I don’t think I’ll be covering any of the voiceover topics from this newsletter….I feel like it would overwhelm the little loaf.
Until next week!
Xoxo,
Snacks
I call it rapini (so much easier/prettier to say) and I'm making the sandwich for dinner tonight! Who is Rob and why does he have broccoli, anyway?
Broccoli Rabe always makes me think of The Office...am I the only one?
