As someone who also struggles with imposter syndrome, I hope this stranger on the internet can help in a little bit of internal validation when you face moments of (strongly unjustified) lack of external validation. I just discovered you this year and I am blown away at how every recipe I try has been consistently good. I try a recipe of yours weekly because my family and I know it’s a reliable good meal that even this amateur can pull off. I know your ingredients have purpose so when you tell me to buy something (like Calabrian peppers in your halibut and dill in your bbq avocado salmon) I do because it always adds flavor or texture that is so good and makes my home cooking feel elevated. I have preordered your cookbook and can’t wait to receive it! Thank you for all the hard work you put in your recipes and helping this family eat well! I am so excited to try some zucchini cookies!
I made the zucchini risotto the day you posted the reel and it was life changing. SO good!!! Thank you for helping me use up all my squash - I’m knee deep!
Reading through these comments and full of awareness that I have a garden FULL of zucchini, I’m am compelled to make the risotto and totally drawn to the cookies. I totally get what you say about the people not following you. It hurts even though we know it shouldn’t. If it helps, I love your account and as has been mentioned by others, have never had a bad result trying your food. I also love your chatty style. Anyone who doesn’t follow you is missing out! 💜
Oh, honey. I love your content, tone, recipes...all the things. I appreciate your vulnerability in your email. Maybe you could think about social media like a coal mine. It's a place that provides energy that has heated and warmed households for centuries, has kept people alive in frigid temps. It's a place where hard working people did the hard work to fuel their families and make a living. But it also depletes the earth and is the cause of "black lung" and a number of fatal ailments that killed scores of people. I think later we will view Zuck's name (and the others) as synonymous with Oppenheimer and Teller: brilliant innovators who created a world-changing innovation that eventually killed tons of people. We know this because of suicidality rates exploding in our most vulnerable, children and young adults. This comment is way to serious for delicious cookies, but you're going to get even "bigger" because of your awesome content so you may as well decide now to sort the "follow and unfollow" as elements in the Matrix. They matter, but only if you live and die in the Matrix. You've got this, and be kind to yourself.
Love this week!!!! Can’t wait for those cookies. My neighbor gave me the largest zucchini from his garden, so we are more than prepared for all the zucchini things! And anyone not following you is seriously missing out! 💚
The fool who is not following you will learn to rue his mistake. I love so many of your recipes - but also the *love* that you obviously put into them! The zucchini risotto is next on my list -- though I confess the zucchini cookies may be a bridge to far? Ah - well - I trust you. I will make them too! You are always a bright, thoughtful spot in my week. Thanks.
Haha if you try the cookies please report back! And if you're scared, take a look at the comments on the blog. I'm honestly shocked at how much people are liking them??
You're a real recipe developer / serious social media icon/ fantastic food blogger and inspiring indivual. Please keep being authentically you and making the content you enjoy. Because that's what we love!
These are such creative recipes on Zucchini. I'm so excited to try the risotto and cookies! Reluctant on the squash blossoms only because finding them in the grocery store isn't easy 😆
Justine, keep doing your thing and it’ll all work out. You are keeping us home cooks going with your new ideas/recipes for our everyday meals. My family loves your recipes. And it sounds like by the other comments you have many families you bring joy to into their home.
Thank you for saying this. The comment section really has made me feel like the "purpose" comes across, and I'm honored to make it into your kitchens <3
I might not be a food journalist or anything else fancy schmancy in the food world, but I am a cook and an eater who thanks you for your "high standards" and for the work you put into your recipes Justine. The proof is in the pudding because every single recipe of yours I've cooked has worked, and been delicious, and interesting :)
Also browning the butter and oats together = genius! I can't wait to try those cookies!
I hope you'll like them! And also your sentence about the proof being in the pudding made my day, that's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish on here.
I always love your work because your food is so endlessly creative (and delicious!) and your words are thoughtful and funny as hell. I haven’t tried all your recipes but just reading through them tells me a lot about the thought you’ve put into every element. When I do make something of yours that always comes through! I know it’s easier said than done some days but I do hope your imposter syndrome respectfully stfu and gives you peace! Thank you always for the integrity of your work and for being funny as hell.
Yessss. With like little flames engraved on the sides of the gravestone. Is she speeding on the angel superhighway? Is she luxuriating in hellfire saunas? We will never know but one thing’s for sure she cracked us all up (and kept us full and nourished in the process)
Excited to make these cookies with my kids 👧🏻👦🏻 I have a zucchini bread recipe that my family has been making for five generations. It’s time to change it up! I found you + this newsletter via Pinterest. Headed to follow you on your other platforms. Sending you ❤️ xo Carla
Justine, I have made your sticky, yummy, delightful, all my heart could ever want zucchini cookies this week. There are 2 people in my home so I made 4 cookies after they had chilled a couple hours and then 4 more the next day and WOW even when I thought they couldn’t get better - the extra chill time did it. I froze the remaining dough and am excited to try them when the moment hits.
I loved browning the butter and hearing the hiss pouring over the zucchini. I did add the chocolate too early so it mostly melted in the batter so that’s something I’ll be a bit more patient with the next time.
The passion and skills in your recipes are apparent. I feel this underlying aspect of fun too. I am pretty new to the baking scene yet I’m building confidence. These recipes feel mostly foolproof because of all the love (and thoroughness) that has been poured into developing them. THANK YOU.
I made your blueberry muffins with the lemon ginger sugar and WHAT? Is this a topping or magic? I could crumble. And then I made your blueberry pumpkin muffins yesterday, and my partner was like … Pumpkin and blueberry? That’s crazy. Omg, they’re SO DELICIOUS and perfect and easy and so glad the recipe uses an entire can of pumpkin.
Also for whatever reasons, I couldn’t figure out how to comment a review and rating on your website. 🙃 so came here but I’ll keep looking. Maybe it’s just a iPhone thing.
I am excited to try a savory dish of yours and will be preordering your cookbook. I hope you have the most delightful weekend!
Fantastic recipes thank you. I have a sweet tooth & a never ending glut of zucchini/courgette so I’m really pleased you found a place for them in the cookies.

True on both counts, appreciate you both so much for keeping my head on straight!

I'm taking the comment "funny as hell" and writing it on my gravestone because it is the highest compliment, you have no idea.
